Minor Geomagnetic Storm

The K index measures the temporal variations of geomagnetic. Values lesser or equals to 5 indicate that Earth's magnetic field is slightly perturbed.

This kind of phenomena is commonly associated with the interaction between solar wind currents and geomagnetic field. The possible effects associated with minor geomagnetic storms (K=5) are:

• Energy systmes: Fluctuations in electric grids.
• Space technology: Minor impact on satellites and increment of error in GPS systems.
• Others: Migratory animals might be affected. Auroras at high latitudes.
